P.I. ice fishing derby raises $4,000 for Canadian Cancer Society

About 160 avid ice fisherman converged on Petrie Island on Saturday, February 10, 2007 to take part in the first annual "K-Pin Fish for a Cure" ice fishing derby to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Ice fishing 'grand master' explains appeal of popular winter sport

When it comes to ice fishing around Petrie Island, Yves Grandmaitre is well-known as the local grand master.
After all, the owner of Oziles' Marina, Cafe, Bait and Tackle Shop says he's fished the area since he was just five years old.
"We have a long family history with the island," he explains. "I grew up here."
